I’ve only toured a few locks and dams on the Ohio River, thanks to our Society of American Engineers (S.A.M.E.) program. These structures are massive with a lot of concrete.
I also get to visit quite a few of our lakes and spend some of my time at the spillways. These structures were built long ago and the deterioration of the concrete is apparent. The stairs are cracking and the dissimilar substrate corrosion is really destroying the concrete where the handrail is set. I’ve been watching our local lake’s maintenance team try to repair these for years with substandard products. It’s not working for them.
Belzona has the right solution for deteriorating concrete. Whether we re-build the area with pea gravel and resins and then top coat with 4111 (Magma Quartz) or just use 4111 to re-set handrails the solution is permanent.
